Inpatient Consumer Survey©
The Inpatient Consumer Survey© (ICS) is a tool which measures the patient's experience of care in inpatient psychiatric facilities. The ICS was endorsed by the National Quality Forum in 2010 as "Best in Class" for quality improvement. The 28-item questionnaire is completed by patients at discharge and/or at annual review, and includes six domains (measures) of the patient experience:
- 1. Outcome of care
- 2. Dignity
- 3. Rights
- 4. Participation in treatment
- 5. Facility environment
- 6. Empowerment
The ICS instrument is free for psychiatric hospitals to use for their own internal Quality Improvement practices. Please review the survey use guidelines. Hospitals that are interested in external benchmarking turn to NRI, Inc. as the only source for national benchmark data for the ICS.
Request a free demonstration today! The demo will provide you with information on the ICS and how it can meet your performance improvement needs.
